Pulse Fitness Tennis Club hosts G.O tennis club on March 6

Pulse Fitness Tennis Club in Kumasi will on Friday, March 6, engage, G.O/ Eusbett Tennis Club from Sunyani in a special Independence Tennis competition, at the Golden Tulip Hotel tennis Courts, Kumasi.  The three-day tournament is sponsored by Thom Acheampong Ventures with support from Royale Cockpit Hotel, Star Life Insuranc and Logsline Limited  The tournament, which forms part of activities marking the 63rd independence anniversary celebrations, would see top players of both sides competing for the bragging rights. According to the organizers, G. Friday Night Tennis Challenge: Benjamin Fumi beats Clement Alisi to reach the semi finals

Benjamin Fumi is through to the semi-finals of the Friday Night Tennis Challenge after defeating Clement Alisi in a two straight sets at the Ghana Tennis Club, Adabraka. Fumi beat Alisi 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 10 minutes.  Tennis Professional of Ghana (TPG) no.9 ranked Clement Alisi replaces injured Benjamin Palm. Alisi started strongly against former TPG No.1 Fumi, racing through the opening set with some powerful serves but Fumi stepped up to 5-4 and then served out the first set 6-4.  Fumi opened up to a 4-0 lead in the second set as Alisi could not find an antidote to Fumi’s aggressive play. GTF Wheelchair Tennis Coordinator gets CAT appointment

Henry Larbi, coordinator of Ghana Wheelchair Tennis, has been appointed to serve on the Confederation of Africa Tennis (CAT) Wheelchair Tennis Commission. The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) executive committee on Saturday at the headquarters in Tunis nominated Ghana wheelchair tennis coordinator Henry Larbi to be a member of the CAT Wheelchair Tennis Commission. Mr. Larbi will serve a 2-year term in office as he will contribute to the planning and execution of the continent's flagship wheelchair tennis development projects and competitions. He will work with some of the highly respected wheelchair tennis administrators on the continent which is chaired by Eng. Sani Ndanusa from Nigeria. The members include: Chiheb Bel Youssef from Tunisia and Mr. Damgale Albert Lamboni of Togo. The rest are: Democratic Republic of Congo’s Solomon Mbafu and Kenya’s Martha Chelimo Tirop. Tennis Foundation Ghana joins forces with UTR to help Ghanaian players

In keeping with their promise to help develop Ghana Tennis, Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) has joined forces with the Tennis Digital Platform giant, Universal Tennis Rating Inc. Universal Tennis Rating  (UTR) is a global  tennis  player rating system intended to produce an objective, consistent, and accurate index of players' skill in  tennis . UTR rates all players on a single 16-point scale, without regard to age, gender, nationality, or location of a given match. All professional players in the  Association of Tennis Professionals  (ATP) and the  Women’s Tennis Association  (WTA) have UTRs, as do most college players and many  junior tournament players  worldwide, as well as many adult league and tournament players. The UTR database includes results from more than 8 million matches and 200+ countries. Ghana Tennis Federation inaugurates 8 committees

The leadership of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) on Saturday inaugurate eight different committees to help steer the affairs of the federation for the next two years. The committees are Sponsorship and Marketing Committee, Finance Committee, Legal and Disciplinary, Development Committee, Technical Committee, Wheelchair Tennis Committee and Gender, Equity and Equality Committee which have been tasked to perform diverse roles to ensure the GTF will be up in arms to make the necessary impact both locally and internationally. While the Sponsorship and Marketing Committee will see to the overall coordination of soliciting sponsorship and marketing for the GTF’s activities, the Information and Communications Committee is responsible for drafting suitable communication policies as well as creating authentic and relevant content of all activities of the tennis federation.
